There is a telephone number were you could reach the space (please call this number for a good time): +49(0)304441730
There is a low traffic subscriber-only mailing list. You really should join this if you regularly use this space, we use it for announcements.
There is #onionspace in irc.oftc.net, this is a public general-purpose channel for chatting about whatever.
Besides there is the option to hang up signs and papers in the space itself, especially to mention here is the noticeboard at the entrance. Please keep these things up-to-date with the wiki! If it's event-related, please also notify the mailing list.
We have a physical meeting in the space, every second Wednesday of each month, at 5 PM. Next dates are: April 11th, May 9th notes from past meetings are here.
And of course, this Gitlab itself, for keeping documentation, tracking issues, and a makeshift calendar for organising events. Request access here by clicking on the Request access button, more details below.
You can receive snailmail and postal packages on the onionspace address
(the postbox is just inside the downstairs door, the key is in the server room):
Onionspace (Aufgang 4)Gottschedstr. 413357 Berlin
There are 3 doors to pass, to get into the space:
Main gate: open before 20:00, or else use the access code on the keypad.
Downstairs door: open 07:00-16:30 weekdays, or else connect to our WiFi and visit the open-URL. It is occasionally locked in the evening / weekend and then it is impossible to enter the space. This is an unfortunate situation that's imposed on us by the building owners.
Space door: use your personal access token and the door will open automatically.
The door is open 07:00-16:30 on weekdays. Outside of those times, you can open it with the the open-URL via the WiFi; however it is occasionally locked in the evening / weekend and these methods won't work for entry. It is always possible to exit without a key, even if the door was locked from the outside.
Juris and Sva have physical keys for emergencies or other special circumstances. One key remains in the server room, and must not be taken away from the Onionspace.
There is an Android app to call the open-URL to open the upper door.
No problem except for the gate if closed. There is door opener button at the wall on the right.
The items mention in bold is given to you, in your welcome email. If you lose the email, you can also find it on-site in the space itself.
There is car parking inside the main gate for guests. The maximum stay is 2 hours, and you need to display a parking disc. This is heavily enforced. It might be easier to park outside the compound (and it's free).
Main gate: When closed, it can be opened from inside with a buzzer - find the switch on the right as you exit. If the electronics fail (happened once in 3 years so far) then take the physical key marked with "G" (for gate) from the server room, and use it to get out. Make sure to bring back the key as fast as possible!
Downstairs door: It is always possible to exit without a key, even if the door was locked from the outside.
Space door: Press the button or physically turn the handle.
For more details about the codes and keys, see the members-only access page.
Using the space
The space has one main hall with a bunch of tables and chairs, and two smaller rooms for small meetings and taking phone calls without disturbing others. There is a bathroom with shower, and small kitchen that will be happy about getting more equipment.
If you wanna host an event that needs to be in the main hall, get in touch with the current regulars via mailing list and/or IRC to check that everyone is OK with that, and check the calendar for any conflicts. If everything is fine, add it to the calendar and announce it on the mailing list. This is very important, so that everyone knows that at these particular day(s) it won't be quiet and adjust accordingly.
If you wanna have a meeting that will fit into one of the smaller rooms, you can simply check the calendar and add your meeting if there are no conflicts.
Please get in touch with the regulars if you wanna use the space to crash / sleep for a few nights. Long stays are not allowed. Be prepared to fulfill some minor todos for the space during that time as a reward :) Please leave no trace during daytimes, since the space is also a regular work environment and sometimes external guests are here.
There is a mezzanine above the bathroom that could be made into a nice seating lounge, feel free to share your ideas and get started!
There are drinks in the fridge, please pay for them into the money box. See regular duties below on how to replace these.
Trash is sorted into paper, recyclable (plastics), and waste. Please empty them if full OR stinky - see regular duties on how to do that.
Please use the fridge and freezer as you wish - if you add something you wanna keep private, label it with your name and a date.
The hot water switch is above the toilet in the bathroom. The default setting should be low (the handwash symbol); for more hot water turn it up to the shower symbol and turn it back afterwards.
The radiators can be temperature-controlled by rotating the dial. When you leave, please turn them back down to 17 deg C. They are supposed to automatically turn down at midnight but we got reports this doesn't actually work.
There is a shower in the bathroom, see "hot water" if you run into issues.
The ExRotaprint property has a garden we can use. See the map for the location. A key should be at the wall in the small cupboard in the OnionSpace.
There is a server room where we store things like paper, bathroom supplies, a printer and other hardware. There are some keys, never take these away from the space. For more details see the members-only access page.
The space provides unlocked storage spaces. You can reserve one by sticking your name on the front, hopefully people will respect that. Should locked storage spaces be needed, those needing can order locks / lockers.
There is wifi, find credentials on-site on the notice board, or from the email you got when receiving a door token.
There are whiteboards and a flipchart for anyone to scrub off and reuse. Always make sure that you photograph whatever you noted there, never rely on the content being there the next day still. If you need it so, make it clearly visible.
There is a projector for the main hall that screens on the white wall at the end of the hall.
There are (functional) printers in the server and main room which are available as network printers, and should be autodetected by your OS if you are connected to the local wifi. One is at 192.168.178.5:9100 (full list available on the printers section). There are other various printers and scanners with different working modes - see which one will work for your operation system :)
If you want to acquire equipment that would be useful for everyone, Moritz might be happy to pay for it out of the space's funds, ask him.
We are happy to take any donated plants and trying to take of them. Please water the plants whenever you feel like its time, thanks!
Microwave oven instructions
The "Mircowave" (next to the kitchen sink) doubles as an oven and can be used for e.g. Pizza.

Put the pizza on the wire rack (yes, according to the manual it is suitable even with the rubber nobs)
Tab oven button multiple times to switch the temperature (up to 220°C)
Use the dial to change the time
Use the start button
In the server room we have several devices that run services.
Router - running at 192.168.178.1. This connects to the internet, and provides WiFi for everyone.
Raspberry Pi "sphinkter" - running at 192.168.178.101. This runs the upstairs door control, and keeps the list of member access tokens. Also available as a Tor hidden service.
Raspberry Pi "cerberus" - running at 192.168.178.100. This runs the downstairs door control. Also available as a Tor hidden service.
VPN Tunnel Box - tunnels all Internet traffic to some other provider for abuse handling
To get access to these, ask Mo or one of the other existing admins. Access should only be given to trusted and technically capable people.
